Playing Up & Transfer Policy
Playing Up
It is Storm’s intention to match players to the team that fits their ability. All players wishing to play on an older team than their WSYSA age-appropriate play must fill out a request to play up and submit it to the Executive Committee for approval. Here are the circumstances where a player may apply to play-up.
1. The player is of high enough talent that playing on their age appropriate team would not further their development.
- The player must be an “impact player” on the team that they want to play-up. We define this as being rated in the top 5 best players of the older team during tryouts or if they join the team later. Since more than likely this player will displace an age appropriate player we want this player to be more than just a contributorto the older team.
- A maximum of 3 players would be allowed to play up on any one team under (a) above.
2. There are not enough age appropriate players on the older team to make a team, and their age appropriate team has enough players to form a team if they leave.
3. For many reasons conflicts can occur between players, parents and coaches. If it is in the best interest of the player, parents, coaches, and teams to move that player to an older team it may be approved if there is room on the older team’s roster for that player without removing an age appropriate player.
4. Other circumstances may occur that are not listed here where a player may request to play-up. Approval or denial is at the discretion of the Executive Committee.
Transfer of player between storm teams
A player may transfer to another Storm team if the following conditions are met:
1. A transfer request is submitted in to the Executive Committee by the parent.
2. Both coaches and parent agree that a transfer is in the best interest of the player and/or teams.
3. Executive Committee approves
