Spring Skills Clinics for all: Rec and Select:
NWUnited offers free Spring skills clinics to all U9-U14 players in our area–whether or not they are planning on playing select soccer. Clinics are at Whitmarsh Fields in Burlington on March 27, April 3 and April 10. Check back for specific times and other details. Questions? Email or call Bob Raymond, 360-466-4152.
NWUnited Development Academy for U9 & U10 Boys and Girls: Begins Tuesday, April 13.
The NWUnited Academy provides U9-U10 boys and girls with five months of weekly skill training from April through early August. Academy players will practice twice a week and participate on balanced teams in our tree summer tournaments at Skagit River Park. No tryout is required.
The Academy training is held each Tuesday and Thursday at 5pm at Whitmarsh Fields in Burlington. First training is on April 13.
Following the summer “season,” players are encouraged to register and play with their local rec teams for the eight-week recreation league season sponsored by Skagit Valley Youth Soccer Association.
After your recreation season is over, you can join us again for more Academy activities—including some exciting indoor play. Training will be terrific and will cost around $25 per month for lots of training from a great staff.
Our trainers are highly skilled as players and trainers. They get results and the kids have fun and the satisfaction of rapidly developing their soccer skills.
And for the rec coaches, we will also provide free support for a few of your practices. Great for tips on skill training and for your making practices effective and exciting.
For more information on the Academy, please email or call Bob Raymond at 360-466-4152.

The 2009/2010 evaluation survey has been closed. We have reviewed all parent comments and the coaching committee is relying on them in their one-on-one discussions with coaches. Coaches do not see the surveys.
We also asked for parent comments on NWUnited operations. We received many and have prepared responses to each–again without identifying the person submitting the comment.
We are taking these comments seriously. All have been reviewed by the Executive Committee and we have prepared responses to each. You can see the parent comments and NWUnited responses by clicking here. After you take a look, feel free to send us additional comments or recommendations. We believe that a continuing dialog within the NWUnited “family” is very important to making this club that you–and we–want to see.

All parents and players must read and sign a “Concussion Information Sheet” in order to participate in the Washington Youth Soccer. You can confirm that you have read the form on-line at www.skvysa.org. Go to “Member Log-in”, enter your username and password, and read the form. In addition, forms are available here: English Version. Spanish Version. For more information email Eric Magnuson
Mmanagers should carry signed copies of the Concussion Information Sheet, along with their signed “consent to treat” forms, to every game and practice.
Thanks

There was a time when many teams maintained a team website. There are several options for doing it.
- See if there is a parent or manager on the team who builds websites.
- Check out eteamz. Those are flexible and fairly easy to set up. Tons of teams use them.
- Inside Soccer allows you to create very nice websites. 30 day trial, then $40 per year. See intro page.
- If you are interested in creating a free team website, email Anna Schoneker. See her website for the GU12-Hansen team. It is very nice.
- If you already have a team website and would like a link to it posted on the Club website, please send the URL to NWUnited Communications.

Lots of interesting and important jobs. Parents contact NW United Communications to discuss your interests. Coaches, talk to your parents about volunteering with our club.

An Important Note to Parents About Select Fees: All across the State, select soccer fees are higher than the fees families are used to paying in recreation soccer. This is primarily because:
- In select soccer, there is a lot more soccer: more tournaments, more league play and more training. And it’s usually over 10 months rather than the 2 months typical of rec ball; and
- Kids learn more and learn it faster with higher level coaches and trainers.
To address this, NWUnited has a substantial scholarship program for families who need that assistance. In addition, many teams raise additional funds through sponsorships, car washes, bake sales, etc. These extra funds can be used to lower the casts for all on the team or just for those who most need assistance in order to keep playing the game they love.
