Spring Skills Clinics for all: Rec and Select

NWUnited offers free Spring skills clinics to all U9-U14 players in our area–whether or not they are planning on playing select soccer. Clinics are at Whitmarsh Fields in Burlington on March 17, April 3 and April 10. Check back for specific times and other details. Questions? Email or call Bob Raymond, 360-466-4152.

NWUnited Development Academy for U9 & U10 Boys and Girls

The NWUnited Academy will provide U 9 & U10 boys and girls with five months of weekly skill training from May through early August, and the Academy players will participate on balanced teams in our summer tournaments at Skagit River Park. No tryout is required.

Following the summer “season,” players are encouraged to register and play with their local rec teams for the 10-week recreation league season sponsored by Skagit Valley Youth Soccer Association.

After your recreation season is over, you can join us again for more Academy activities—including some exciting indoor play. Training will be terrific and will cost around $25 per month for lots of training from a great staff.

Our trainers are highly skilled as players and trainers. They get results and the kids have fun and the satisfaction of rapidly developing their soccer skills.

And for the rec coaches, we will also provide free support for a few of your practices. Great for tips on skill training and for your making practices effective and exciting.

For more information on the Academy, please email or call Bob Raymond at 360-466-415.

We also asked for parent comments on NWUnited operations. We received many and have prepared responses to each–again without identifying the person submitting the comment.

We are taking these comments seriously. All have been reviewed by the Executive Committee and we have prepared responses to each. You can see the parent comments and NWUnited responses by clicking here. After you take a look, feel free to send us additional comments or recommendations. We believe that a continuing dialog within the NWUnited “family” is very important to making this club that you–and we–want to see.

NWUnited FC is seeking a coach and club development director. This is a part-time position and could be split between two persons. Salary range is from $20,000 to $30,000, depending on candidate experience. As club membership grows, this could be increased. The objectives and duties of the position are described in the two attachments. It is important to read both. The “cover letter” describes the overall objectives of coach and club development. We are looking for a highly qualified individual(s) who will help NWUnited provide outstanding service to the soccer community in our area and allow our programs to reach a greater portion of the athletes in the communities we serve. The “position description” identifies specific duties.

Applications should be submitted to: NWUnited FC; P.O. Box 577; Mt. Vernon, WA 98273. They should include a current resumé and a letter describing how the candidate’s qualifications and perspectives on club development address the requirements and objectives set out in the two documents cited above.

The NWUnited Executive Board will meet with qualified candidates to explain further our objectives and discuss candidate qualifications and perspectives. Candidates are encouraged in the application and in subsequent interviews to propose alternative ways of achieving club objectives.
