Thanks coaches, players, managers, parents for your part in a successful tournament. We hope all teams had a good experience on the field and off. Developing individual soccer skills and understanding of the game should be a fun and satisfying experience. Your first tournament helps coaches and trainers build their training and development plan for the year and beyond. Rome wasn’t, and great soccer players and teams aren’t, built in a day. It is a long and we think satisfying process. Take the long view: By the end of the summer players and teams will have advanced substantially in skill and understanding. By the end of league, even more so. By end of the seasonal year: WOW!

In the meantime, congrats to all teams who played and to those who achieved an extra measure of success by making it to the finals.

Communication/Ombudsman

Please contact NWUnited Communications if you notice errors anywhere in the website.

See note on the website concerning team websites.

Discussion of an “All United” night, such as ice cream social, bbq or strawberry short cake feed. Perhaps one evening of the Firecracker. If interested contact Bob Raymond.

Coaching standard, behavior and expectations were all discussed. These have been signed by all NW United coaches. Parents with concerns or questions contact Bob Raymond.

Treasurer

Approx. $9,000 currently in account. Treasurers’ meeting scheduled for 5/27 at 6:30 at Round Table Pizza. Duane will be going over how teams should structure player payments.

ALL United fees are due by the end of Sept. All teams should try to collect at least $100 at first team meeting. We need to settle how to handle delinquent payments from families. Skagit State Bank is the Club bank. They have the appropriate information for team accounts.

Tryout

Over 390 kids tried out. An increase from last year. This number does not include all players who tried out at the BU15-17 sessions. Some age groups need some attention to bring in more players and ensure future teams. Tryout committees is invited to share more with the board at the next board meeting to help guide needs for next year’s tryouts. Discussion of having a booth at the pre tryout clinics to provide information to parents. Increase in players who tried out from the Anacortes/Oak Harbor areas.

Contracts

NW United logo needs to be added to the PSSA registration forms. Monico will contact Todd. Goalie trainings are being negotiated with Christian Warman. Bob will talk to some others who may be interested in filling in when Christian is not available. The goal would be to have about 2 goalie training available per month per team. $5000 has been budgeted fro this. Motion was passed to keep the $5000 as the amount available.

Scholarships

2 applications have already been received; they are due by 6/8. This is a soft date.

Only treasurers and committee will have access to information regarding scholarships. The starting amount is $175; more can be given based on need.

Coaches Committee

Jame Witzel reported that all coaches attended the coaches meeting. We have 26 teams this year.

Tournament Committee

There will be a recreational tournament held at the same time as our Labor Day Kick. It will be held at the South end of SRP. More information to come.

SkVYSA Information

Chuck Lamay said that some teams went to the Lakewood area teams. There is discussion right now in SKVYSA about whether these teams should be allowed to practice in Stanwood. Grandfathered teams are ok to practice there.

An administrative assistant was hired and that expense will be reflected in next year’s fees. Expect a 5 to 10 dollar player increase.

Some discussiong of the possibility of Districts 1 and 2 combining in order to have more teams available to play against in the regular season games. More competition. Neutral playing sites may need to be established.

Us Club Soccer

Individual trams can register. There are additional expenses but this provides another tournament available to teams who register. Monico will get more information.
