Joining a Committee
Some parents (many, we hope) might be ready to consider joining the other parents and volunteers who help the organization that helps your kids.
From a personal standpoint, the two major reasons for volunteering for one (or more?) committees a) It is Fun, and b) It is Satisfying.
Fun because you join with others who like the game of soccer and are willing to be a more active part of it. Satisfying because you are helping current and future young people play the game, build friendships, and learn values and lessons they will carry with them through adolescence and into adulthood.
The amount of time required varies. Some committees operate almost year-round and others are very seasonal (e.g., Tryouts, Tournaments). But, this is a volunteer effort and you are in complete control of how much time you put in. Your role on a committee is based on your particular interests and the time you have available.
You may not be ready to commit now but we hope quite a few of you will be willing to learn more about the committees and consider which might be right for you. If so, please contact someone on a committee and chat about it. We can put you in touch with any of them or you can contact one of the NWU officers.
We welcome your questions and hope you find a role in NW United that is both FUN and SATISFYING.
