Letter from our Director
My goal for Northwest United FC (“NWU”) is to produce and build high quality players and teams, while consistently building all age groups year after year. NWU wants to give our players a service that will provide the best opportunity to maximize their potential as a player and as a person. Player and team development and game understanding will be at the fore front of our goals. We want our players to have a great soccer experience while pushing them to achieve their maximum potential. All players should be placed at the appropriate playing level to allow them to flourish and attain their goals. My philosophy is to bring a simple structure/model in finding players with potential and nurturing that talent while giving them a clear pathway to where they could go as a part of our club. NWU will create an environment where players are interspersed with same talent level and ability to push one another. NWU will try to place players in the most competitive environment where they not only get pushed each training with teammates, but also on game days where they are playing against the best competition at US club soccer and PSPL. Playing with and amongst equal or better ability is key to improving each week and together try and attain personal and team goals.
NWU endeavors to find players with potential from as young as 7-8 in a U9 team and immerse them into our culture and teaching of premier soccer. NWU will make it a priority to educate players to play the game a particular way and style where they can be expressive and creative on the pitch. This will allow players to form strong bonds with their teammates earlier on. Starting this development early will in turn raise the standard of the player and team and enable them to be a more successful performer. It is conducive with every top soccer academy across the world that this model/philosophy consistently delivers quality players and teams if done well and with the right coaches. Our techniques and training will mirror that of top academies. Our aim is for players around Skagit Valley and surrounding areas to be a part of our program because we produce the most exciting teams and our players are consistently creative and well rounded.. I firmly believe in this model; we will attract players and that in turn will build age groups. Every club that has a strong premier team will have a solid classic team with players wanting move up to the premier team. Strong premier teams will raise the standards of our classic and Copa teams. Careful guidance, nurturing, and solid training methods will help achieve this.
Every time a team plays Northwest United, we should be known as being very difficult to beat and of having very sound technical ability. NWU should and will stand out as having a top style of play and consistency of similar teams and players. I am basing a lot of our curriculum on observations and teaching from around the world, from my University degree, playing experience, courses, and research.
